All On Four Dental Implants
La Jolla

All-on-four dental implants, also known as full-arch fixed implant bridges, are a full teeth restoration solution that uses four implants across the entire arch rather than each missing tooth needing an implant. This makes all-on-four dental implants an ideal solution for multiple tooth loss on both the top and bottom teeth.

What are all-on-four dental implants?

All-on-four dental implants are a type of bridge that relies on only four implants to affix the bridge to the jaw, vs. an implant for each tooth. This results in time and cost-effective solutions for multiple tooth loss. The bridge is attached via four points using titanium screws to replace the root, which over time will fuse with the jawbone to fix the implant to the jaw, with the added benefit of warding off bone loss. After the bridge in place, crowns are custom produced and fixed to the bridge for a natural-looking, completely functional, beautiful smile.

What are the benefits of all on four dental implants?

Due to the fact that all-on-four dental implants are attached to the bone in four places, the procedure takes less time and is more affordable.

Other benefits of all on four dental implants in San Diego

  • A beautiful new set of teeth in one day
  • Prevents future jawbone loss
  • A more youthful appearance
  • A natural-looking smile
  • Only one minor surgery needed
  • Bone grafting usually not necessary
  • No shifting or slipping of the bridge

What can I expect from the all-on-four dental implant procedure?

Our San Diego all on four procedure only typically takes two to three hours, including placing the teeth. Dr. Han will place the four implants to the bone and then affix the bridge. Once the bridge is securely in place, Dr. Han will place your custom-fitted, new, white, teeth. In most cases, you can leave the office with a new full set of teeth the same day.

Recovery from all-on-four dental implants

It is expected that you may feel some pain, bruising, and swelling, which can be managed with painkillers in the early stages of healing. You will recover quickly from all on four dental implants in La Jolla, with a fully functional set of teeth, and no worries about the discomfort and instability of dentures – not to mention the restrictions on what you can eat with confidence!

After your all-on-four implant procedure

Immediately after the procedure, you will need to keep gauze packed over the implants. You will want to avoid touching and rinsing the surgical areas, including no smoking or chewing. Dr. Han will give you complete aftercare instructions as well as a medicated mouthwash to help keep the mouth clean from bacteria.

You should rest for 72 hours after surgery and have someone to help you around the house as you should not perform any strenuous activity. You will also need to follow a soft diet for three months following surgery, avoiding hard or crunchy foods like raw vegetables and crackers. You should stick with soft foods such as stewed meats, eggs, applesauce, pasta, ice cream, and yogurt.

Am I a good candidate for all-on-four dental implants?

You are a good candidate for all on four in La Jolla if you have experienced the loss of many teeth, or your teeth must be extracted due to decay. You are also an ideal candidate if you already wear dentures on your top or lower teeth and would like a more stable, long-lasting solution.

Practice Policy Update Regarding COVID-19

Greetings

La Jolla Implant and Cosmetic Dentistry are committed to the health and safety of our patients, team members and communities. We want to assure you that we are being extra vigilant about your safety during the current coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

We are posting this to keep you informed about the additional safety measures we are taking to protect you during this time.

We have reinforced our already comprehensive Infection Control procedures with our team members, which include frequent handwashing, use of clean masks and gloves, and disinfecting all surfaces in the treatment rooms and reception areas. We are also taking the following additional steps:

  • Increasing the frequency of thorough cleaning and disinfecting of all surfaces of the office
  • Instructing patients and team members to stay home if they’ve traveled to high-risk areas or if they have any COVID-19 related symptoms
  • Removing communal items that may be touched by multiple people throughout the day such as our coffee station and magazines
  • Maintaining a lower flow of patients to alleviate any traffic in the office and allow for social distancing

In closing, the safety of our patients, team members and community are paramount. As the coronavirus pandemic evolves, we will continue to actively monitor the local situation and follow CDC recommendations.

We are hopeful these proactive changes will contribute to helping our community get past the Coronavirus situation soon. We are committed to serving our community and are here to help.
